1.  About the software

  The Express5800/R120e-1E, Express5800/R120e-2E SDR update module ("this software") supports the following
  functional enhancement in the Express5800/R120e-1E, Express5800/R120e-2E models:

   - Supported PCIe SSD Adapter (356GB) [N8118-01].

  Note:
  - To prevent a system failure, please read this document carefully and follow the procedure for
    successful update.  Should your system malfunctions or is powered off due to an unplanned event
    during update (for example, power blackout or cutoff, lightening, and noise), the system may be
    damaged and fails to operate normally.  In this case, any remedial measures shall be taken at your
    expense.

  - This software does not support to update SDR by using Remote Media function [N8115-04] of
    the EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.

2.  Models for update 

  Users who install or remove the following optional devices into the following server models.

   - Server Models: 
      1. Express5800/R120e-1E
      2. Express5800/R120e-2E

   - Target optional devices:
      PCIe SSD Adapter (365GB) [N8118-01]


  NOTE:
   - The "SDR UPDATE TOOL" CD media of the version older than this software may be attached to the
     server or some optional devices. You must not use it. You must use this software.
     
   - Be sure to update the SDR even if SDR version is same as this software version.

3.  Installation procedures

  - Prepare:
     (1) A CD-R media for the install CD
     (2) An external optical disk drive if a built-in optical disk drive is not installed in the server.
         Connect to USB connector of the server.
     (3) A Keyboard. Connect to USB connector of the server.
     (4) A display unit. Connect to diaplay connector of the server.
      
  
  - How to make the install CD:
    
    (1) Download the update module to a desired directory.
    (2) Extract the downloaded module to a desired directory.
    (3) The following files will be extracted to that specified folder. 
        - SD2_SDR0003W.iso  (ISO image file)
    (4) Write the ISO image file to a CD-R media by any CD writing program.
    (5) Mark the SDR versions on the media.
  
  - How to update:
    
    (1) Confirm that the optical disk drive is connected to the server.
    (2) Turn on the power of the server to start up.
    (3) Insert the install CD in the optical disk drive of the server.
    (4) The server start from the install CD, and the SDR update start automatically.
        About 3 minutes is required to complete the update.
        Be sure not turn off the power until the complete.
        
    (5) After the complete, the following messages are displayed.
         Example)
         -------------------------------------
         Specialized for PCI device.              <- Check(b)
         CFG Identify  : XX.XX.XX.XX.XX           <- Chack(c)
         SDR Revision  : SDR Version 00.03        <- Chaek(a)
         -------------------------------------
         Remove CD-R, and press <Enter> key...
         The system will be rebooted.
         
    (6) Confirm messages.
        (a) Be sure to confirm SDR Version of this software.
        
        (b) Only when the following PCI card is installed, be sure to confirm that 
            "Specialized for PCI device" (as shown in the above example) is displayed. 
            If not installed, no message is displayed.
               - N8118-01 PCIe SSD Adapter
        
        (c) Be sure to confirm that CFG Identify value (as shown in the above example) is
            correctly displayed. 
            Referring to the following table, confirm that the correct value corresponding to
            the target device is displayed.

    (4) Eject the CD media from the optical disk drive. 
        Remove the external optical disk drive if not necessary.
    
    (5) Press <Enter> key.
        The server will be rebooted automatically and POST start.

4.  Note

  4.1. Check the boot sequence of your server in order to boot the optical disk drive at first.
  
  4-2. Case of SDR update end messages (CFG Identify etc..) are different than expected.
       Turn off the AC power and check the connection of the optional devices and try updating
       the SDR again.
  
  4-3. Case of "Error: SDR Update failed!!" and command prompt (#) are displayed.
       It means that SDR update is failure. In this case, input "halt" and <Enter> key by the keyboard. 
       The server will be powered off. 
       
       If the following message is displayed during the SDR update, that means that SDR update is being
       applied to the untargeted models. Check the server model.
           Error:====It is not a target machine of SDRupdate.
       
       If other messages are displayed during the SDR update, retry to download the SDR update module
       again. If there is the failure again, contact your sales representative.
