1.  About the software

  The Express5800/E120e-M SDR update module ("this software") supports the following
  functional enhancement in the Express5800/E120e-M server module:

 - Improved the alarm threshold value of ambient temperature sensor when the server 
   module is mounted in the Module Enclosure [N8141-66F] with 1600W power supply.

  Note:
  - To prevent a system failure, please read this document carefully and follow the procedure for
    successful update.  Should your system malfunctions or is powered off due to an unplanned event
    during update (for example, power blackout or cutoff, lightening, and noise), the system may be
    damaged and fails to operate normally.  In this case, any remedial measures shall be taken at your
    expense.

  - This software does not support to update SDR by using Remote Media function [N8115-04] of 
    the EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.

2.  Models for update 

Users who use the following server modules and options and SDR Revision need update:
  
   - Target Server Module: 
        Express5800/E120e-M Server Module
     
   - Target Options:
   
   1. User who use Module Enclosure [N8141-66F] (With 1600W Power Supply) and the following SDR 
      Revisions. All Target Server Modules in Module Enclosure [N8141-66F] need to update the SDR.
         SDR Revision  : 00.22
         SDR Revision  : 00.23
      
   2. After 1'st CPU is installed on the server module.
   
   3. Users who install or remove the following target optional devices in the server module.
       - PCIe SSD Adapter (365GB) [N8118-01]
   
   4. Users who install the target server module (SDR Revision 00.24) which shipped March, 2015
      or later in Module Enclosure [N8141-65F].
   
   5. Users who install the target Server module in Module Enclosure [N8141-68F].
   
   6. Users who move the target Server module between Module Enclosure [N8141-65F], [N8141-66F]
     and [N8141-68F].


  NOTE:
   - The "SDR UPDATE TOOL" CD media of the version older than this software may be attached to the 
     Module Enclosure. You must not use it. You must use this software version.
     
   - Be sure to update the SDR even if SDR version is same as this software version.
     

How to confirm your SDR revision:

- By ESRAS Utility of NEC ESMPRO Agent:

 (1)  Run the ESRAS Utility.
 (2)  Select the [Intelligent Platform Management Interface] sub menu.
 (3)  Select the [Senosr Data Record(SDR)] and the [Repository Information] sub menu.
 (4)  The SDR version of your system will be displayed.

- By BIOS Setup:

 (1)  Power on the system.
 (2)  When the following message appears, press the F2 key to start the BIOS 
      Setup Menu. 
                        "Press <F2> SETUP"
 (3)  Using the arrow keys, move the cursor to [Server]. 
 (4)  Select the [System Management] sub menu and press the Enter key. 
 (5)  The software revisions of your system will be displayed. 
 (6)  After confirmation of the software revisions, press the ESC key and exit 
      the [System Management] sub menu. 
 (7)  Move the cursor to [Exit], using the arrow keys. 
 (8)  Select [Exit Discarding Changes], and exit the BIOS Setup Menu. 

- By NEC ESMPRO Manager:

 (1)  Run NEC ESMPRO Manager on remote PC.
 (2)  After selecting the server, select the [Remote Control] tab.
 (3)  Select the [IPMI Information] sub menu.
 (4)  Select the [SDR-Management Information] sub menu and press the Enter key.
 (5)  The SDR version of your system will be displayed.

- By EXPRESSSCOPE(R) Engine 3 Web Server function:

 (1)  Run EXPRESSSCOPE(R) Engine 3 Web Server function.
 (2)  Select the [System] sub menu.
 (3)  Select the [IPMI Information] sub menu.
 (4)  Select the [SDR] sub menu. 
 (5)  Select LAST Record ID / Record Type : OEMSDR
 (6)  The SDR version of your system will be displayed.

3.  Installation procedures

  - Prepare:
     (1) A CD-R media for the install CD
     (2) An external optical disk drive. Connect to USB connector of the server module.
     (3) A Keyboard. Connect to USB connector of the server module.
     (4) A display unit. Connect to display connector of the server module.
  
  - How to make the install CD:
    
    (1) Download the update module to a desired directory.
    (2) Extract the downloaded module to a desired directory.
    (3) The following files will be extracted to that specified folder. 
        - NM_2_SDR0524W.iso  (ISO image file)
    (4) Write the ISO image file to a CD-R media by any CD writing program.
    (5) Mark the SDR versions on the media.
  
  - How to update:
    
    (1) Confirm that the optical disk drive is connected to the server module.
    (2) Turn on the power of the server to start up.
    (3) Insert the install CD in the optical disk drive of the server module.
    (4) The server start from the install CD, and the SDR update start automatically.
        About 3 minutes is required to complete the update.
        Be sure not turn off the power until the complete.
        
    (5) After the complete, the following messages are displayed.
         Example)
         -------------------------------------
         CFG Identify  : cfgadrh                   Check(b)
         SDR Revision  : SDR Version 00.24        <- Chaek(a)
         -------------------------------------
         Remove CD-R, and press <Enter> key...
         The system will be powered off and on.
         
    (6) Confirm messages.
        (a) Be sure to confirm SDR Version of this software.
        
        (b) Be sure to confirm that CFG Identify value (as shown in the above example) is
            correctly displayed. 
            Referring to the following table, confirm that the correct value corresponding to
            the target device is displayed.

    (4) Eject the CD media from the optical disk drive.
        Remove the optical disk drive if not necessary.
        
    (5) Press <Enter> key.
        The server will be rebooted (power off and on) automatically and POST start.

4.  Note

  4.1. Check the boot sequence of your server in order to boot the optical disk drive at first.
  
  4-2. Before SDR update is complete, the STATUS LED may indicate an error or error logs may be registerd
       as the SEL. Ignore it and continue the work.
  
  4-3. Case of SDR update end messages (CFG Identify etc..) are different than expected.
       Turn off the AC power and check the connection of the optional devices and try updating
       the SDR again.
       If there is the failure again, contact your sales representative.
  
  4-4. Case of "Error: SDR Update failed!!" and command prompt (#) are displayed.
       It means that SDR update is failure. In this case, input "halt" and <Enter> key by the keyboard. 
       The server will be powered off. 
       
       If the following message is displayed during the SDR update, that means that SDR update is being
       applied to the untargeted models. Check the server model.
           Error:====It is not a target machine of SDRupdate.
       
       If other messages are displayed during the SDR update, retry to download the SDR update module
       again. If there is the failure again, contact your sales representative.
