1.  About the software
The NEC Express5800/T120d, NEC Express5800/T120e BMC firmware update module ("the software") 
supports the following functional enhancement in the NEC Express5800/T120d, NEC Express5800/T120e models:

 - Added the function for agentless monitoring of onboard LAN ports.
 - Added a new display resolution supported by latest display driver.
 - Support video record for the remote KVM console of the EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
 - Support the Access Information to log the following event.
   - Clear the Access Information.
   - Clear the SEL.
 - Fixed the issue that SEL repository full setting is not initialized by BMC Initialization.
 - Fixed the issue that some sensor information is not displayed correctly in WS-Management
   feature.
 - Fixed an issue where remote management feature may be unavailable in network which causes
   packet loss frequently.
 - Fixed the issue that Mail and SNMP Alert settings are displayed as "disable"
   although these settings are enabled after the BMC Firmware is updated.
 - The workaround of an issue that the cpu usage of the kipmi0 kernel thread goes to 100%
   when BMC is reset with the following environment.
   - The system uses the RHEL 6.4 as the Operating System.
     The Operating System uses the Open IPMI driver.
   - The system uses RHEL 6.x older than RHEL 6.4 as the Operating System.
     The Operating System uses the Open IPMI driver.
     And you set the BMC IRQ to Disabled.
 - Fixed the issue that the BMC LAN is not available if invalid DNS Server Address is set to the BMC.
 - Added PSU_Status_Sensors to monitor STATUS_VOUT.
 - Fixed the issue that the system will be powerd off after power on when the system takes over 30 second
   for shutdown that caused by ShutdownSystem settiong of Aggressive Mode in ECO function.
 - Changed to configure IPMI authentication type same as ESMPRO/SM setting when the network configuration
   is set by Web browser and BMC Configuration Tool.
 - Improved to reflect the keyboard input of Remote KVM even when the client OS is in Japanese input mode.
 - Improved to show warning message when launching Remote KVM if the keyboard language of Remote KVM is
   different from that of client OS.
 - Supported new models ( NEC Express5800/T120e ).

Note:
  - To prevent a system failure, please read this document carefully and follow the procedure for
    successful update.  Should your system malfunctions or is powered off due to an unplanned event
    during update (for example, power blackout or cutoff, lightening, and noise), the system may be
    damaged and fails to operate normally.  In this case, any remedial measures shall be taken at your
    expense.

  - This software does not support virtualization environment.

  - If you use ESMPRO(R) ExpressUpdate function, [ 2.  Models and software revisions for update ] and
    [ 3.  Installation procedures ] are processed automatically. Please refrer to [ 4.  Notes ].


2.  Models and software revisions for update 

  Users who use the following server models and BMC firmware versions need update:
   - Models to update: 
     1.  NEC Express5800/T120d
     2.  NEC Express5800/T120e

   - BMC firmware version to update:

      - BMC firmware
                        BMC Firmware Revision:  00.10
                        BMC Firmware Revision:  00.11
                        BMC Firmware Revision:  00.13
                        BMC Firmware Revision:  00.14

  NOTE:
    If your BMC firmware version is later than the above, you do not require the update
    (the latest versions already include the functions to be added by the software).

   - How to confirm your BMC Firmware version:

     Please make sure to confirm proper BMC Firmware version by any of the following means.(*1)

     * How to confirm by the server which will be updated *

   - By Xrasutl, to confirm your BMC Firmware version:

     (1)  Run the xrasutil.
     (2)  Select the [Display the current IPMI infomation...] sub menu and press the Space key.
     (3)  Select the [IPMI Infomation] sub menu and press the Space key.
     (4)  Select the [Most Recent IPMI Data] sub menu and press the Space key.
     (5)  Select the [Management Controller Infomation] sub menu and press the Enter key.
     (6)  The BMC firmware version of your system will be displayed.

   - By BIOS Setup, to confirm your BMC Firmware version:

     (1)  Power on the system.
     (2)  When the following message appears, press the F2 key to start the BIOS Setup Menu.

                              "Press <F2> to enter SETUP"

     (3)  Using the arrow keys, move the cursor to [Server]. 
     (4)  Select the [System Management] sub menu and press the Enter key. 
     (5)  The software versions of your system will be displayed. 
     (6)  After confirmation of the software versions, press the ESC key and exit the [System Management]
          sub menu.
     (7)  Move the cursor to [Exit], using the arrow keys. 
     (8)  Select [Exit Discarding Changes], and exit the BIOS Setup Menu. 


     * How to confirm by the remote access *

   - By ESMPRO(R)ServerManager Ver.5, to confirm your BMC Firmware version:

     (1)  Run ESMPRO Manager Ver.5.
     (2)  After selecting the server, select the [Remote Control] tab.
     (3)  Select the [IPMI Information] sub menu.

     (4)  Select the [MC(Management Controller) Information] sub menu.
     (5)  Select the [Basbrd Mgmt Ctlr] sub menu.
     (6)  The BMC firmware version of your system will be displayed.


    - By EXPRESSSCOPE(R) Engine 3, to confirm your BMC Firmware version:

     (1)  Run EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
     (2)  Select the [system] tab.
     (3)  Select the [IPMI information] sub menu.
     (4)  Select the [MC] button and select [basbrd Mgmt Ctrl].
     (5)  Check [Firmware Revision].


3.  Installation procedures

  3-1. Preparation for the software
   If your system can access the update module on the web, you may go to
    "3-2. BMC Firmware updating procedure".

  - Prepare a CD-R or a USB HDD for the update BMC firmware.

  - How to copy the CD-R or the USB HDD:

    (1) Download the update module, extract it to a desired directory.
    (2) Copy the directory to a CD-R or a USB HDD.
    (3) Delete the directory.

  3-2. BMC Firmware updating procedure

    Please update by following procedure.
    To close all running applications are recommended.
    If you skip "3-1. Preparation for the software", please go to"(3) Run Command Prompt."

  - How to update BMC firmware:

    (1) Insert the CD-R into the disk drive or USB HDD on USB Port of your system if necessary.
    (2) Download or copy the update module to a desired directory.
    (3) Open the terminal.
        - Move to the directory.
        - Enter following command for the update BMC firmware.

              #./bmcup.sh

    (4) The following message is displayed.

    ###########################################
    # Please put an end to all applications   #
    # in order to start the update of BMCFW.  #
    ###########################################

    "Press any key to start"

    (5) Close all unnecesssaly aplications and press any key to start updating procedure.
        (It takes about 5 minutes.)

    (6) After completing update successfully, the following message is displayed.

            Update is successful. Reboot is required for changeover to new FW.         

            BMCFW update was complete !!

    (7) Close the terminal.
    (8) Reboot your system.
        (You should reboot the system to activate the updated BMC firmware as soon as possible.)
    (9) Confirm that the BMC firmware Revision has been updated to the version listed below by any of
        the means described at (*1).

                          BMC Firmware Revision  :  01.02

- Note after the updated BMC firmware:
      (1) Logout all web browser on your system.
      (2) Login the web browser on your system if necessary.


4.  Note

- Error message for updating BMC firmware

    During updating BMC Firmware, following message might be displayed.

    C4  = The image file does not support this machine.

       - Cause : The model is not a proper model.
       - Answer: Check the model and the BMC firmware version.


    C1  = Invalid parameter.
    C2  = Failed to image file load.
    C3  = The image file is corrupted.
    C4  = The image file does not support this machine.
    C5  = The image file is bigger than flash rom.
    C6  = Update tool does not support this firmware.
    C19 = File open error. (ExUpInfo.xml)
    C20 = Version info. Not exist. (ExUpInfo.xml : <version>)
    C21 = Timeout was generated.
         
       - Cause : The update module may be broken.
       - Answer: Retry to download the update module and to update it.


    C7  = Error while establishing the session.

       - Cause : Communication error occurred between BMC and Update tool.
       - Answer: Please try following steps.
                 1. Please remove external USB storage devices, such as CD-ROM and DVD-ROM, from the
                    system in case that these devices are connected.
                 2. Please reset BMC and wait for a while.
                    And then please retry to update the BMC firmware.
                 3. If there is the same failure at step 2 , please use BMC firmware update module
                    for offline.
                    If update tool detects the same error in spite of above workaround, call the
                    maintenance service.


    C8  = IPMI command error. (Get Device ID)
    C9  = IPMI command error. (Get FW Info)
    C10 = IPMI command error. (Enter FW Update)
    C11 = IPMI command error. (Upload FW Image)
    C12 = IPMI command error. (Get FW Update Status)
    C13 = IPMI command error. (Check FW Image)
    C14 = IPMI command error. (Exec FW Update)
    C15 = Update status error. (Enter FW Update)
    C16 = Update status error. (Upload FW Image)
    C17 = Update status error. (Check FW Image)
    C18 = Firmware update error.

       - Cause : The updating BMC firmware was failed.
       - Answer: Please reset BMC and wait for a while.
                 And then please retry to update the BMC firmware.
                 If there is the failure again, call the maintenance service.


5.  Revision history

The contents of "2013/06/28" previous, NEC Express5800/T120e is not covered.

 - Fixed the issue that the ESMPRO/SM can not detect the BMC depending on the network environment.
 - Fixed the issue that BMC has the pottential to stall by using remote KVM function 
   after illegal BMC reset thatwill be caused by keeping to supply power to the server 
   over half year.
   (Without using remote KVM function, BMC will not stall, only be resetted.)
   BMC reset by the BMC reset button, EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3 Web server,
   and Command Line Interface, etc... doesn't occur this issue.
 - Modified the SMTP client processing.


2012/12/28 BMCFW Revision 00.13, SDR Revision 00.10
 - Supported Widows Server 2012 (DCMI).
 - Changed to reboot management LAN port if management LAN port does not receive any packet for a 
   certain period of time.
 - Improved the issue that active directry user who belongs multiple group may be aborted to log in 
   EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
 - Improve the character-based remote console via command line interface  of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3 to be
   enabled to accept mass input for example to copy and paste long text.
 - Improved the issue that the network functinon of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3 become   unavailable by receiving
   Jumbo Frame Packet from Management LAN port.
 - Improved the internal user configuration for  EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3 to be disabled to change.
 - Fixed the issue that BMC owner's events are not logged rarely after BMC clear configuration 
   by the BMC configuration Utility.
 - Supported Java 7 for web server functions of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
 - Fixed the issue that the cursor of a Linux text mode is not displayed on the remote KVM console 
   of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.


2012/10/31 BMCFW Revision 00.11, SDR Revision 00.10
 - Support the Filter Replacement Sensor.
 - Improved Web server function of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3 and changed the description of  the online help.
 - Changed the limit of input character to 64 characters when creating the CSR in SSL configuration.
 - Changed the sel behavior. Clear all sel entry immediately if the sel configuration is changed from 
   "Stop logging SEL" to "Clear all SEL" when the sel repository is full.
 - Fixed the issue to be not able to use "." character in the host name when creating a CSR in SSL configuration.
 - Fixed the issue that a negative value does not displayed correctly in the "Component"-"temperature" 
   of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
 - Improved character-based remote console of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3 to enable to display during  POST.
 - Changed to enable the user who logged in with operator user level to execute nmidump via command line
   interface of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
