1.  About the software

  The Express5800/R120f-1M,Express5800/R120f-2M, Express5800/R120f-1E,Express5800/R120g-1M,
  Express5800/R120g-2M, Express5800/R120g-1E BMC firmware and SDR update module ("the software") supports
  the following functional enhancement in the Express5800/R120f-1M, Express5800/R120f-2M, 
  Express5800/R120f-1E, Express5800/R120g-1M, Express5800/R120g-2M, Express5800/R120g-1E models:

   - Changed from the Java applet to the Java application about IPMI information display functionality.
     * A remote KVM console or IPMI information display function in this version can't be launched on
       the Java environment earlier than Oracle Java7u25. If you would like to update to this version,
       please update to the Java environment higher than Java7u40.
   - Extended the term of validity for the SSL server certificate and the Java code signing certificate.


  Note:
  - To prevent a system failure, please read this document carefully and follow the procedure for
    successful update.  Should your system malfunctions or is powered off due to an unplanned event
    during update (for example, power blackout or cutoff, lightening, and noise), the system may be
    damaged and fails to operate normally. In this case, any remedial measures shall be taken at your
    expense.

  - This software does not support virtualization environment.

  - If you use ESMPRO(R) ExpressUpdate function, [ 2.  Models and software revisions for update ] and
    [ 3.  Installation procedures ] are processed automatically. Please refrer to [ 4.  Notes ].

  - Before BMC firmware update, please make sure that a drive letter has been assigned 
    to the virtual CD/DVD drive on Windows OS if the Remote Media function of the BMC firmware is enabled.

  - Customers using the Express5800/R120f-1M and Express5800/R120f-2M and Express5800/R120f-1E,
    Update ROM Utility (Off-line TOOL), in order to use BMC Firmware Revision 02.27 or later.
    After confirming "Models and software revisions to update" in the download page of the ROM Utility
    (Off-line TOOL), update it if applicable. 


2.  Models and software revisions for update 

  Users who use the following server models and BMC firmware revisions need update:
   - Models to update: 
     1. Express5800/R120f-1M
     2. Express5800/R120f-2M
     3. Express5800/R120f-1E
     4. Express5800/R120g-1M
     5. Express5800/R120g-2M
     6. Express5800/R120g-1E

   - BMC firmware and SDR revisions to update:

        - BMC firmware
                          BMC Firmware Revision:  02.08
                          BMC Firmware Revision:  02.11
                          BMC Firmware Revision:  02.13
                          BMC Firmware Revision:  02.15
                          BMC Firmware Revision:  02.18
                          BMC Firmware Revision:  02.25
                          BMC Firmware Revision:  02.27
                          BMC Firmware Revision:  02.28

        - SDR
                          SDR Revision         :  00.04
                          SDR Revision         :  00.05
                          SDR Revision         :  00.06
                          SDR Revision         :  00.07


  NOTE:
    If your BMC firmware revision is later than the above, you do not require the update
    (the latest revisions already include the functions to be added by the software).


   - How to confirm your BMC Firmware and SDR revision:

     Please make sure to confirm proper BMC Firmware and SDR revision by any of the following means.(*1)

     * How to confirm by the server which will be updated *

     - By BIOS Setup, to confirm your BMC Firmware and SDR revision:

     (1)  Power on the system.
     (2)  When the following message appears, press the F2 key to start the BIOS Setup Menu.

                              "Press <F2> to enter SETUP"

     (3)  Using the arrow keys, move the cursor to [Server]. 
     (4)  Select the [System Management] sub menu and press the Enter key. 
     (5)  The software revisions of your system will be displayed. 
     (6)  After confirmation of the software revisions, press the ESC key and exit 
          the [System Management] sub menu.
     (7)  Move the cursor to [Exit], using the arrow keys. 
     (8)  Select [Exit Discarding Changes], and exit the BIOS Setup Menu. 


     * How to confirm by the remote access *

     - By EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3, to confirm your BMC Firmware and SDR revision:

     (1)  Run EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
     (2)  Select the [system] tab.
     (3)  Select the [IPMI information] sub menu.

     Confirmation of BMC Firmware revision

     (4)  Select the [MC] button and select [basbrd Mgmt Ctrl].
     (5)  Check [Firmware Revision].

     Confirmation of SDR revision

     (6)  Select the [SDR] button and select LAST Record ID / Record Type : OEMSDR
     (7)  Check [[OEM Dara] SDR Version].


     - By ESMPRO Manager Ver.6, to confirm your BMC Firmware and SDR revision:

     (1)  Run ESMPRO Manager Ver.6.
     (2)  After selecting the server, select the [Remote Control] tab.
     (3)  Select the [IPMI Information] sub menu.

     Confirmation of BMC Firmware revision

     (4)  Select the [MC(Management Controller) Information] sub menu.
     (5)  Select the [Basbrd Mgmt Ctlr] sub menu.
     (6)  The BMC firmware revision of your system will be displayed.

     Confirmation of SDR revision

     (7)  Select the [SDR-Management Information] sub menu and press the Enter key.
     (8)  The SDR revision of your system will be displayed.


3.  Installation procedures

  3-1. Preparation for the software
   If your system can access the update module on the web, you may go to
    "3-2. BMC Firmware and SDR updating procedure".

  - Prepare a CD-R or a USB HDD for the update BMC firmware.

  - How to copy the CD-R or the USB HDD:

    (1) Download the update module, extract it to a desired directory.
    (2) Copy the directory to a CD-R or a USB HDD.
    (3) Delete the directory.

  3-2. BMC Firmware and SDR updating procedure

    Please update by following procedure.
    To close all running applications are recommended.
    If you skip "3-1. Preparation for the software", please go to"(3) Run Command Prompt."

  - How to update BMC firmware and SDR :

    (1) Insert the CD-R into the disk drive or USB HDD on USB Port of your system if necessary.
    (2) Download or copy the update module to a desired directory.
    (3) Open the terminal.
        - Move to the directory.
        - Enter following command for the update BMC firmware.

              #./bmcup.sh

    (4) The following message is displayed.

         ####################################################
         #  From now will start the update of BMCFW and SDR #
         #  Please end all the applications.                #
         ####################################################

    (5) Close all unnecesssaly aplications and press any key to start updating procedure.
        (It takes about 5 minutes.)

    (6) After completing update successfully, the following message is displayed.

            Update is successful. Reboot is required for changeover to new FW.         

            BMCFW update was complete !!

    (7) Close the terminal.
    (8) Reboot your system.
        (You should reboot the system to activate the updated BMC firmware as soon as possible.)
    (9) Confirm that the BMC firmware Revision has been updated to the revision listed below by any of
        the means described at (*1).

                          BMC Firmware Revision  :  02.29
                          SDR Revision           :  00.10


4.  Note

  4-1.Note after updating BMC firmware and SDR:

    (1) Logout all web browser on your system.
    (2) Login the web browser on your system if necessary.

  4-2.Error message for updating BMC firmware

    During updating BMC Firmware, following message might be displayed.

    C4  = The image file does not support this machine.

       - Cause : The model is not a proper model.
       - Answer: Check the model and the BMC firmware revision.


    C1  = Invalid parameter.
    C2  = Failed to image file load.
    C3  = The image file is corrupted.
    C4  = The image file does not support this machine.
    C5  = The image file is bigger than flash rom.
    C6  = Update tool does not support this firmware.
    C19 = File open error. (ExUpInfo.xml)
    C20 = Version info. Not exist. (ExUpInfo.xml : <version>)
    C21 = Timeout was generated.
         
       - Cause : The update module may be broken.
       - Answer: Retry to download the update module and to update it.


    C7  = Error while establishing the session.

       - Cause : Communication error occurred between BMC and Update tool.
       - Answer: Please try following steps.
                 1. Please remove external USB storage devices, such as CD-ROM and DVD-ROM, from the
                    system in case that these devices are connected.
                 2. Please reset BMC and wait for a while.
                    And then please retry to update the BMC firmware.
                 3. If there is the same failure at step 2 , please use BMC firmware update module
                    for offline.
                    If update tool detects the same error in spite of above workaround, call the
                    maintenance service.


    C8  = IPMI command error. (Get Device ID)
    C9  = IPMI command error. (Get FW Info)
    C10 = IPMI command error. (Enter FW Update)
    C11 = IPMI command error. (Upload FW Image)
    C12 = IPMI command error. (Get FW Update Status)
    C13 = IPMI command error. (Check FW Image)
    C14 = IPMI command error. (Exec FW Update)
    C15 = Update status error. (Enter FW Update)
    C16 = Update status error. (Upload FW Image)
    C17 = Update status error. (Check FW Image)
    C18 = Firmware update error.

       - Cause : The updating BMC firmware was failed.
       - Answer: Please reset BMC and wait for a while.
                 And then please retry to update the BMC firmware.
                 If there is the failure again, call the maintenance service.


  4-3. Error message for updating SDR

    During updating SDR, following message might be displayed.

    (a) Can't open IPMI driver.
    (b) This SDR data is not supported.(Not Found HWID in mchk_fil)

       - Cause : The model is not a proper model.
       - Answer: Check the model.


    (c) Illegal parameter format.

       - Cause : The parameter of the update is illegal.
       - Answer: Retry to download the update module and to update it.


    (d) unsupported SparedSDR command on BMC.Or, the time-out is generated by a system in high load.

       - Cause : The SDR update function is not support. Otherwise, 
                 the updating SDR failed for the system in high load.
       - Answer: Reboot the system after the BMC firmware is updated, then retry to update the SDR.
                 If the system is in high load, you may wait for normal load, then retry to update the
                 SDR.


    (e) Timeout was generated.
    (f) Get Device ID Command Error.
    (g) insufficient memory.
    (h) SDR record read error from BMC.
    (i) failed to clear the SDR repository.
    (j) failed to receive BMC response, bad completion code.
    (k) IPMI command retry error.
    (l) failed to open IPMI Driver.
    (m) failed to send IPMI command.
    (n) IPMI command error for Backup/GetSdrVersion.
    (o) Backup File I/O error.
    (p) SDR file does not match with what was programmed into memory.
    (q) SDR file unsuccessfully written.
    (r) It failed in retrying of MSDriver. A high load of the system is thought as a cause.

       - Cause : The updating SDR failed for the system in high load.
       - Answer: If the system is in high load, you may wait for normal load, then retry to update the
                 SDR.


5.  Revision history

The contents of "2015/06/23" previous, Express5800/R120g-1M, Express5800/R120g-2M, Express5800/R120g-1E 
is not covered.

2019/01/31 BMCFW Revision 02.29, SDR Revision 00.10
   - Changed from the Java applet to the Java application about IPMI information display functionality.

   - Modified to close unused port(TCP/UDP port 427).
   - Supported new sensor offset of OS Boot Events for System Event Log(SEL) viewer on Web browser
     and Mail Alert.
   - Fixed the issue that it can not access to EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3 from Web browser after changing
     BMC FW setting in rare case. Fixed the issue that it can not change the user configuration or 
     the Management Software configuration after changing BMC FW setting in rare case.
   - Update online help on Web browser of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
   - Changed some strings on Web browser and Command Line Interface of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
   - Updated OpenSSL module based on 1.0.2.
   - Changed the encrypted communication not to use weak encryption scheme and TLS compression.
   - Modified processing of system reset when OS reboot.


2016/05/17 BMCFW Revision 02.27, SDR Revision 00.10
   - Supported IPv6 connection for command line interface, E-mail alert and image redirection.
   - Supported 1Gbps/10Gbps fixed speed for link speed configuration of Shared BMC LAN.
   - To improve security, updated the OpenSSL to the latest 1.0.1p base.
   - Took measures to GNU C library(glibc) vulnerable to buffer overflow (CVE-2015-7547).(*)
   - Changed the signing algorithm of SSL server Certificate from SHA-1 to SHA-2.
   - Supported automount on RHEL7 for Remote Media.
   - Fixed the issue remote KVM console corrupts on delegation of access privilege between 
     multiple KVM consoles.
   - Supported E-mail information icon of Server Panel on Web Console.
   - Modified to prohibit string which contains " ' " or "#" in some configurations by web browser.
   - Modified to allow string which contains "-" or "_" in community name of SNMP alert configuration 
     by web browser.
   - Update online help on Web Console.
   - Update OSS license on Web Console.
   - Supported event of LAN Leash Lost(Error and Recovery) on the Management LAN port and 
     the Shared BMC LAN port.(BMCFW/SDR)
   - Supported new models (Express5800/R120g-1M, Express5800/R120g-2M, Express5800/R120g-1E).(BMCFW/SDR)
   - The SDR of the SW Owner sensor(such as BIOS), change the handling from SDR_Type = 02h(Compact Sensor
     Record) to SDR_Type = 03h(Event Only Record).
   - Improved cooling function.(SDR)

   Target of "Express5800/R120g-1M" and "Express5800/R120g-2M" is a changes item (*).

   - Improved the issue that rarely connection timeout of Management LAN.
