1.  About the software

The NEC Express5800/B120e-h, NEC Express5800/B120e
BMC firmware update module ("the software") supports the following functional enhancement. :

 - Improved to preserve contents of the web browser display for alert configurations 
   by EXPRESSSCOPE Profile Key when a main board is replaced.
 - Update online help on Web Console.
 - Update OSS license on Web Console.
 - Changed the encrypted communication not to use SSL v3.0.
 - Changed the signing algorithm of SSL server Certificate from SHA-1 to SHA-2.
 - Modified to prohibit string which contains " ' " or "#" in some configurations  by web browser.
 - Added the usable character "+" to the SMTP Server Setting in Mail Alert via a web browser.
 - Modified to allow string which contains "-" or "_" in community name of SNMP alert configuration 
   by web browser.
 - Supported new sensor offset of OS Boot Events for System Event Log(SEL) viewer on Web console and 
   Mail Alert.
 - Improved to BIOS POST Error (C010/C020/C103/C104) during use Remote KVM on the POST just after 
   AC power is supplied.
 - Modified to close unused port(TCP/UDP port 427).
 - Updated the OpenSSL to 1.0.1t base.

Note:
  - To prevent a system failure, please read this document carefully and follow the procedure for
    successful update.  Should your system malfunctions or is powered off due to an unplanned event
    during update (for example, power blackout or cutoff, lightening, and noise), the system may be
    damaged and fails to operate normally.  In this case, any remedial measures shall be taken at your
    expense.

  - This software does not support to update the BMC firmware by Remote Media on EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.

  - Please set "Disable Remote Media USB Ports" of BIOS Setting to [Disabled] during update.


2.  Models and software revisions for update 

Users who use the following server models and BMC firmware versions need update:

 - Models to update: 
     NEC Express5800/B120e-h
     NEC Express5800/B120e

 - BMC firmware versions to update:
                        BMC Firmware Revision: 01.04
                        BMC Firmware Revision: 01.03
                        BMC Firmware Revision: 01.01

NOTE:
If your BMC firmware version is later than the above, you do not require the update(the latest versions
already include the functions to be added by the software).

 - How to confirm your BMC Firmware version:

   - By ESRAS Utility, to confirm your BMC Firmware version:

(1)  Run the ESRAS Utility.
(2)  Select the [Intelligent Platform Management Interface] sub menu.
(3)  Select the [Management controller information] sub menu.
(4)  Select the [Basbrd Mgmt Ctrl] sub menu.
(5)  The BMC firmware versions of your system will be displayed.

   - By BIOS Setup, to confirm your BMC Firmware version:

(1)  Power on the system.
(2)  When the following message appears, press the F2 key to start the BIOS Setup Menu.

                Press <F2> SETUP, <F4> ROM Utility, <F12> Network

(3)  Using the arrow keys, move the cursor to [Server]. 
(4)  Select the [System Management] sub menu and press the Enter key. 
(5)  The software versions of your system will be displayed. 
(6)  After confirmation of the software versions, press the ESC key and exit the [System Management] sub
     menu. 
(7)  Move the cursor to [Save&Exit], using the arrow keys. 
(8)  Select [Discard Changes and Exit], and exit the BIOS Setup Menu. 

   - By ESMPRO/ServerManager, to confirm your BMC Firmware version:

(1)  Run ESMPRO/ServerManager.
(2)  After selecting the server, select the [Remote Control] tab.
(3)  Select the [IPMI Information] sub menu.
(4)  Select the [MC(Management Controller) Information] sub menu.
(5)  Select the [Basbrd Mgmt Ctlr] sub menu.
(6)  The BMC firmware version of your system will be displayed.

    - By EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3, to confirm your BMC Firmware version:

(1)  Run EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3.
(2)  Please check "BMC Firmware Revision" at Server Information.


Please read the following User License Agreement ("Agreement") carefully.
If you do not agree to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, you shall not download the Software.
Downloading the Software indicates your acceptance of the terms and conditions of the Agreement.


3.  User License Agreement

NEC Corporation ("NEC") grants you the right to use the software program ("Software") under the terms
and conditions of this Agreement only in the country in which you acquired the Software. You shall
agree to all provisions of this Agreement and assume responsibility for selection, installation, use 
and effect of the Software purchased for your desired effect.

The Software uses the software ("GPL Module") granted by GNU General Public License("GPL) or GNU 
Lesser General Public License("LGPL"). This Agreement does not cover GPL Module.

The Software includes the following GPL Module and LGPL Module.

You can distribute or change the module based on the conditions of GPL or LGPL or any later Version,
stipulated by Free Software Foundation. The module is supposed to be useful, however, NEC does not 
guarantee it.
In addition, NEC does not release any copyright of GPL Module, designed by NEC.

   The Free Software Foundation (FSF) is a non-profit corporation to support the spread of
   the free software.
   You need to refer to The Free Software Foundation ( http://www.fsf.org/ )for details of
   GNU General Public License Version 2 and GNU Lesser General Public License.

You shall agree that NEC does not answer to any questions regarding the GPL Module.
By using the Software including GPL Module, you will be bounded by the terms stipulated in GPL and LGPL.
 
The following Agreement is applicable to the Software excluding GPL Module aforesaid.

<Agreement for the Software>

1. Terms 
1.1 This Agreement shall come into force on the date of your receipt of the Software.
1.2 You may terminate the license granted hereunder by notifying us in writing at least one month
    prior to the desired termination date.
1.3 NEC may terminate the license granted you hereunder at any time if you fail to comply with any
    terms and conditions of this Agreement. 
1.4 The license to the Software shall remain in force until the license is terminated on the date
    set forth hereunder. 
1.5 Upon termination of the license, other rights granted you hereunder shall also be terminated.
    You must destroy or dispose of the Software, any copies of the Software and manual and other
    materials provided with the Software. 

2. Copyright 
2.1 The Software shall solely be used in the NEC Express5800 servers.
2.2 NEC grants you the right to use the Software only in the country in which you acquired the 
    Software in accordance with the conditions of the preceding paragraph.

3. Copying, altering, and combining of the Software
3.1 You may only make one copy of the Software solely for a backup purpose,
    provided, however, that the copy of the Software is loaded into permanent memory of the system.
    You may store the Software solely to prevent damages or loss of the memory media.
3.2 You shall place the copyright notice and other legends on each copy of the Software.
3.3 You may not use, copy, alter, combine, publish, reproduce the Software over the Internet, or
    otherwise dispose of the Software except as provided in this Agreement. 
3.4 You may not copy, publish the manual or other related documentation provided with the Software,
    or reproduce such manual and documentation over the Internet.
3.5 No intangible property right to the Software shall be transferred to you.

4. Transfer
4.1 You may assign your rights granted hereunder to a third party only if all conditions below are
    satisfied: 
    a. You shall assign and shall not retain this Agreement, the Software, allcopies of the
    Software, or the manual or other related documentation provided with the Software. 
    b. The transferee agrees to this Agreement.
4.2 You shall not sublicense, assign, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the Software or the right of
    use to any third party except as provided herein.

5. Reverse compile
   You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise disassemble the Software.

6. Limitation of warranties
6.1 The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. In no event shall NEC be liable
    with respect to any claim by you on account of or arising out of the use of the Software.
6.2 Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, in case NEC makes any bug-fix version
    to the Software, NEC will, at its expense, furnish you with such bug-fix version, update version,
    or information in relation to such bug-fix or update version both in the source code form and
    object code form, and such bug-fix version or update version shall be considered as the licensed
    Software.

7. No liability 
    In no event shall NEC be liable for any indirect or consequential damages or loss of profit or 
    damages based on any third party claim, even if NEC has been advised of the possibility of such
    damages. 


4.  Installation procedures

- Prepare a CD-R for the update BMC firmware.

- How to copy the install CD-R:

(1) Download the update module to a desired directory.
(2) Extract the downloaded module to a desired directory.
(3) The software and its installation procedures (readme file) will be extracted to that specified folder.
(4) Write the ISO image file to a CD-R by any CD writing program.
(5) Mark the BMC firmware version on the media.

- How to update:

(1) Shutdown OS and remove the server from the Blade Enclosure.
    After more than 30 seconds, insert the server into the Blade Enclosure.
(2) If you set "Disable Remote Media USB Ports" of BIOS Setting to [Enabled], 
    set [Disabled] during update. The default setting is [Disabled].
    
      Power on the system.
      When the following message appears, press the F2 key to start the BIOS Setup Menu.
                 Press <F2> SETUP, <F4> ROM Utility, <F12> Network
      Using the arrow keys, move the cursor to [Security]. 
      If "Disable Remote Media USB Ports" is [Enabled], change into [Disabled].

(3) Boot the system from the CD-R.
(4) Automatically update BMC firmware using the CD-R, do not turn off the power until the
    complete.
(5) After the complete, the following messages are displayed.

         --- OK ---
         Please remove the CD, then press ENTER key to power off.

(6) Eject the CD-R and press ENTER key to power off the system.
(7) Confirm that the BMC firmware Revision has been updated to the version listed below.

    BMC Firmware Revision  :  01.05

(8) If you changed the BIOS Setting at (2), return to the original setting.

- Note after the updated BMC firmware :

(1) Logout all web browser on your system.
(2) Login the web browser on your system if necessary.
     (You need to apply J2SE Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 6.0 or later for a Management PC.)


5.  Notes

(1) Check the boot sequence of your system in order to boot the disk drive of the CD-R at first.
(2) When the following message appears, check the model.

            XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX................................ (*)

            *** ERROR ***

            (*) About the message

            (a) The image file does not support this machine.

          - meaning: This message is displayed when your server model is not included in the list in chapter 2.
          - measure: Please confirm if your server model and software revision.


            (b) Invalid parameter.
            (c) Failed to image file load.
            (d) The image file is corrupted.
            (e) The image file is bigger than flash rom.
            (f) Update tool does not support this firmware.
            (g) File open error. (ExUpInfo.xml)
            (h) Version info. Not exist. (ExUpInfo.xml : <version>)
            (i) Timeout was generated.
         
          - meaning: The software may be broken.
          - measure: Please download the software again.


            (j) Error while establishing the session.

          - meaning: The BIOS setting of "Disable Remote Media USB Ports" is [Enabled].
          - measure: Please set [Disabled].


            (k) IPMI command error. (Get Device ID)
            (l) IPMI command error. (Get FW Info)
            (m) IPMI command error. (Enter FW Update)
            (n) IPMI command error. (Upload FW Image)
            (o) IPMI command error. (Get FW Update Status)
            (p) IPMI command error. (Check FW Image)
            (q) IPMI command error. (Exec FW Update)
            (r) Update status error. (Enter FW Update)
            (s) Update status error. (Upload FW Image)
            (t) Update status error. (Check FW Image)
            (u) Firmware update error.

          - meaning: Update failed.
          - measure: Press POWER switch on the CPU blade for 4 seconds or longer
                     to forcedly power off the CPU blade.
                     Please update again from "How to update (1)".
                     If the error occurred again, please contact your sales representative.

(3) Please take the following measure when either successful or failed message
    is not displayed after 20 minutes from beginning of update.

          - measure: Press POWER switch on the CPU blade for 4 seconds or longer
                     to forcedly power off the CPU blade.
                     Please update again from "How to update (1)".
                     If the error occurred again, please contact your sales representative.


6.  Revision history

2019/8/28  BMCFW Revision 01.05

 The BMCFW has not changed since it was released on 2018/2/28.
 The following problem with the ISO image file have been improved.
 - Improved the problem that BMC settings are initialized to default settings
   by applying the ISO image file (STM0105A_WB1.iso) released on 2018/2/28.

2015/9/1  BMCFW Revision 01.04

 - Enhanced the automatic recovery feature of hardware monitoring function
   under high load.
 - Fixed the issue that the "Ctrl+Alt+Del" button on the Remote KVM will
   no longer function after pressing the "Ctrl" button and the "Alt" button
   of the Remote KVM and any physical keyboard.
 - Added the description of the "Help" menu in EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3
   that "Enable HTTP1.1" is the necessary setting of web browser.
 - Improved possible performance deterioration of the Remote KVM console
   with the host system that doesn't support mouse device.

 The following changes apply to the BMC Firmware Revision 01.01.
 These were applied at BMC Firmware Revision 01.03.

 - Fixed the issue that the BMC LAN is not available when invalid DNS Server Address
   is set to the BMC.
 - Improved Web server function of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine 3 and changed the description
   of the online help.
 - Changed to configure IPMI authentication type same as ESMPRO/SM setting
   when the network configuration is set by web browser or BMC Configuration Tool.
